Postcard Exchange with Urban Sketchers Querétaro, Mexico

At our Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Sketchwalk on Saturday 15 August, we’re delighted to be taking part in a special postcard exchange with Urban Sketchers Querétaro, Mexico.

A member of the Querétaro chapter will be visiting London and bringing 30 hand-drawn postcards from fellow sketchers in Mexico to exchange with participants from Urban Sketchers London.

The idea is simple. Create an original urban sketch on postcard-sized paper, drawn on location in keeping with the Urban Sketchers manifesto. On the back, write a few words about the sketch, yourself, and include your Instagram (or other social media handle if you’d like), and your postcard will be exchanged with a sketcher from Querétaro.

It’s a simple but meaningful way to share a little piece of London, discover someone else’s corner of the world, and perhaps begin a new international sketching friendship.

You can see how enthusiastically the Querétaro chapter has embraced the project here: Instagram: Urban Sketchers Querétaro or Facebook: Urban Sketchers Querétaro

Our sketchwalks are free, open to everyone, and no booking is required. Find more info about the sketchwalk here.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park offers a wonderful mix of contemporary architecture, waterways, parkland and iconic Olympic venues, making it an ideal place to spend the day sketching before exchanging postcards with our visitor from Mexico.

One small sketch can travel thousands of miles and start a new friendship. We can’t wait to see the stories crossing the Atlantic.
