Saturday 19 April 2025 – 11:00 – 15:30
Hosted by David Hersey and Dean Ashton
Join us on Easter Saturday for our monthly sketch meet, as we head to Canada Water.
Back in November 2024, Southwark Council opened a bright red boardwalk to traverse the revitalised wetland habitat of Canada Water. The fresh water lake, sits in the Rotherhithe area of Docklands, South-east London. The area is going through a regeneration with the aim to transform a historic London docklands location into a distinctive, new waterside town centre. While further work is still planned, the area is a snapshot of South East London trying to find its identity between the old and the new.

Key times and meeting points for the day:
Saturday 19th April 2025
11 am: We will meet in the open area alongside the store ‘Decathlon’, adjacent to the waterside.

Further sketching opportunities
Rotherhithe Thames Path is a 10-15 minute walk from Canada Water. Home to the Brunel Museum, St Olav’s Church, and The Finnish Church. This quaint pocket of warehouses, Tudor pubs and historic dockland buildings sits on the edge of the Thames Path and is rich in historic references as far back as the launch of The Mayflower (The English sailing ship that transported a group of families, known today as the Pilgrims, from England to the “New World”.
