We welcome you to the sketch walk at Alexandra Palace; a famous venue for sports, and music events and a place holding a part of British TV history. The large BBC tower on its rooftop is where the first high-definition public television service began back in 1936. Then in 1966, the first colour television signals were transmitted from there! Additionally, this palace features a great hall; a known location of the BRIT Awards back in 1993-1995. The main stage located there was home to performances by many great music figures like Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and many more. Surrounded by a small lake and lots of greenery. There are many pockets of interest to draw and paint. There’s a cafe on the park side down the hill from Alexander Palace. There are swans, ducks and natural views with a green landscape around.
Key times and meeting points for the day
11 am: We will meet outside the main entrance area (not the Palm Court Entrance).
1 pm: We will be meeting back at the main entrance for the first group photo and throw-downs of our paintings and drawings.
3:30 pm: The second throw-down will be in the same place. If the weather changes, or there are risks of rain, we will plan on the day to meet indoors or on the side of the building under one of its exterior roofs.
3:30 pm and after: We can all go for a drink or to chat at the Phoenix Bar & Pizzeria. It is on the opposite side of Alexandra Palace building.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Transport: Accessible by bus W3, it takes you all the way to the top of the hill. There’s an underground station at Wood Green which connects to the W3 bus as well. There’s also the train; Alexandra Palace station is at the bottom of the hill for those who prefer a little walk up the hill as well. How to Get Here > Alexandra Palace
Food and Drink: There are snacks and sandwiches usually available at the indoor cafe. Then there is a restaurant/bar called the Phoenix Bar on the other side of the building and also a lake-side cafe nearby.
Toilets: There are accessible toilets at the main entrance, indoors to the left.
Additional toilets are at the lake-side cafe and at the Phoenix Bar on the opposite side of the building.
Information Centre: There is a visitor centre inside by the entrance doors.
Map and Access
It is a slight incline up the hill from the bus stop to the main entrance, but the top space is then level and should be accessible to all parts, especially the main entrance and its facilities inside.
